UNIV150 this semester was a requirement since I failed the Writing Placement Test for Old Dominion University. This class has advanced my knowledge in my errors and how to fix them. In the years of english I have taken this one puts the nail in the coffin on bettering a person’s writing. UNIV150 has open up doors even in other classes to help advance my grade in them with better papers and grammar. In this class we wrote daily journals and essays. We wrote each entry on a new topic but with the same rubric with commons on the submits text to help show the writer their errors. In Essay number 4 we just wrote I scored the highest overall in it.
Essay #4 Before reading any further remember this is a essay but a college student however feel free to submit any comments and concerns.
“The transition from high school to college is one of the biggest change in most people’s life. From having a support of a parent and friends you’ve known for years to a whole new area, people, and surrounding can make or break the newly incoming freshman. Freedom will be at its peak and the way these incoming freshman handle this freedom will dictate their time in college. When coming to college most student register at the end of each semester for the following semesters set of classes. The registration process can be completely different than what students are use to. Having a good advisor and knowing how the program for registration will help you make the transition easier.
When registering for class students will need to first setup an appointment with the appointed advisor. The advisor will make sure you take the right classes for the students selected major and minor. After you meet with the advisor twice they will forward you to the department advisor dealing within the student’s major. By this time most students should feel comfortable with accessing the program “DegreeWorks”.
DegreeWorks is the program Old Dominion University’s academic advisors use to help the their students pick their future classes. DregreeWorks helps all students in the programs system see their progress left until they are able to graduate. This program allows students to have a year by year planner laying out their classes, grade point average calculator, and other various helpful tools. One of the most helpful things this program lets all students do is see the required classes for classes with prerequisites to other classes.
Some classes have required grades you must earn while taking that class so you can may to other classes. At Old Dominion University has each student have to get a “C” average in classes such as English in order to continue on with center classes. The program DegreeWorks also lays out the requirements for classes similar to Old Dominion English required classes and others. Students are also required to register for at least 12 to 15 credit hours to be classified as a full-time student at the University. Anything less than the required amount of credit could affect things such as housing, finical aid, meal plan, ect. The appointed advisor for students will take to the student in the advising meeting about the requirement that registration has within its process.
The college registration process can be a complex process however the students appointed academic advisor will be there to help the student successful complete registration. College is a biggest transition of most people’s life, but if the incoming students use the helpful tools presented then there should be no reason to fail. Getting settled in and making the schedule based on the students needs will always help them succeed. Registration is the first building block for students to have a great year, but the remember advisors are always there to help too. ”

There were a few grammar issues, plural mistakes, with a minor amount of shifts in person and a few other errors however those are the majority.
